Wilf was born in 1913, the fifth child of Alfred and Annie Ditchburn.
He was married to ‘Vera Alice', originally from Bury in Lancashire.
Wilf was in the army serving with the ‘1st Battalion The Green Howards’ in World War 2. He was killed in action at Khayat Beach on the 26th September 1944 aged 31.
He is buried in the Khayat Beach War Cemetery at Hypha in Egypt.
